Our Planet

Tackling climate change requires political, technological and individual action. While there are many contributing factors, it is important to remember that how we choose to live our lives related to our relationships, the food we eat, and the products we buy, directly impacts our planet.

The burning of fossil fuels is a major contributor to global warming. In some respects a bad economy does have a beneficial effect toward climate change. In an attempt to save money people are naturally making positive changes to the environment by adjusting the their heating or air conditioning levels, driving less, wasting less food or finding ways to make older things last longer.

What Ideal North advocates is for you to make wiser choices on a daily bases with whom you deal with or purchase from. Always be asking yourself, do they represent my ideals for a healthier planet?

This is where we live, this is our planet.

We at Ideal North know there a lot of very bright individuals and organizations on our planet, and that if given the opportunity, resources and most of all our encouragement they could solve a lot of our environmental problems.

So the next time you come across anyone who is trying to help our planet like an environmentalist, conservationist, scientist, student, neighbor or especially a politician, thank them for all their good work and encourage them to carry on.

We have provide a few links below to those who are fighting the good fight. If you wish to be included on our list or know of some organization that should be, please email us their link at: info@idealnorth.com.

Climate Change Performance Index: World watchdog.
The Climate Change Performance Index report for 2009, which ranks 57 industrialized countries and emerging economies, has Canada remained near the bottom of the annual ranking with the second worst climate change plan in the world after Saudi Arabia, while United States betters us by sitting in third place.

Statistics can sometimes be misleading. For instance, the United States emits twenty one percent of the world's greenhouse gases, while Canada emits two per cent, yet Canada has only about 0.4 per cent of the world's population, this means we really contribute five times or ten percent to the world’s greenhouse gases.
